Rikard Scoufias

Rikard Scoufias is an energy and natural resources leader with over 25 years of international experience leading the development and execution of large-scale investments in mature and emerging markets on 5 continents. He is a senior advisor to both industry and government and serves on various boards, incl. as chairman of Greece’s national energy resources company, HEREMA, where he has since 2020 overseen the revitalised efforts to monetise the country's natural gas resources, estimated at €250BN, and HEREMA’s expansion into renewables and decarbonisation. He also chairs the company’s ESG board committee. Previously, he was Country CEO at the Trans Adriatic Pipeline, the European part of the new “Southern Gas Corridor” that connects European energy markets with energy resources in the Caspian, and before that he served for a decade as a member of BP Plc.’s senior leadership team where he led the group’s government & public affairs in Europe and for several of the company’s global investments. He is widely recognised as a pragmatic and mission-oriented strategist and corporate relations expert, and his commentaries on how industry can create sustainable value, negotiate the increasingly complex landscape of geopolitical risk, and strengthen ‘social license’ by forging impactful alliances with civil society and government have been featured by the Economist, the Financial Times and the Delphi and Davos economic fora.
